COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES:
2008 - 2010 Aurora Planetree Volunteer; Recorded and documented first-person narratives of patients’ lives to enable, improve, and facilitate interactions between patients and health care staff; attended and listened to patients who were in the acute care, hospice, and cancer centers, and effectively communicated with medical staff, family, and friends who could assist the patient and provide support.
2008 Pathology Department Volunteer; created and updated procedural documents employed by the entire Aurora Clinical Laboratory system; restructured and digitized many important publications used in the lab and clinical setting.
2009 - 2010 Aurora Health Care, Oshkosh and Milwaukee, WI; Health and Wellness Research Assistant; developed and assisted in program presentations to employees on health and wellness topics; additionally composed weekly news articles for the entire Aurora Sinai Medical Center campus in Milwaukee, and collaborated with wellness team personnel to administer a hospital-wide program promoting vitamin D intake; Developed 14 health and wellness personal programs to improve employee health including yoga, physical fitness education, and spiritual/mental health.
2010 - 2014 Wilderness Medicine Society; organized trap shooting, rock climbing, ski trip to Colorado, and fundraising events; served as President 2013-2014; service as Vice President 2011-2013.
2011 - 2014 Magis Clinic Volunteer; treated homeless patients in free clinic run exclusively by Creighton medical students; educated younger students how to perform physical exams, develop diagnoses, and treat common illnesses.
2011 - 2014 Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum; organized site for presentations and provided logistical management and presentation day event assistance.
2011 - 2014 Internal Medicine Interest Group Co-Preseident (2013-2014), and member; duties included club oversight, selection of and presentation at monthly journal club, organized yearly picnic, provided mentoring to first and second year medical students interested in Internal Medicine.
2015 - Present Marquette University Arts and Science College "Explore the Majors" Fair yearly representative and discussant.
 

INTERESTS AND HOBBIES:
In my free time, my wife and I enjoy spending time together and exploring the outdoors. We love to cross-country ski, bike, and kayak. We also enjoy cooking, traveling, trying new restaurants, and playing with our dog. When not spending time together, I enjoy listening to jazz and classical music and playing my saxophone.
