RESEARCH WORK EXPERIENCE:
11/2006 - 05/2010 Undergraduate Research Assistant. UW-Madison Biochemistry Department (Madison, WI) Collaborated with a graduate student to investigate pleiotropic drug resistance via over expression of molecular chaperone protein, ZUO1. Orally presented results each semester to lab group. Developed basic laboratory skills such as western blotting, PCR, and cloning. Prepared media, reagents, and other lab equipment for lab use
2008 Product Development Intern. Blood Center of Wisconsin (Milwaukee, WI). Summer 2008 Evaluated clinical utility of an ELISA (Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay) for fibrinogen gamma prime detection. Analyzed the sensitivity of colorimetric, luminescent, and fluorescent ELISA designs. Isolated DNA from blood for use in a new blood genotyping platform
06/2010 - 07/2015 Research Technologist II. Blood Research Institute, Blood Center of Wisconsin (Milwaukee, WI) Analyzed effects of PECAM-1 as an inhibitor of platelet activation via cell transfection, culture, and analysis by flow cytometry. Investigated sequential regulation model for inhibitory receptors utilizing protein expression and purification and radioactive in-vitro kinase assays. Performed clinical research on bleeding and thrombosis in pediatric patients with congenital heart defects after cardiopulmonary bypass. Orally presented project data every month to lab group; Presented two posters and one oral presentation at national and international meetings
06/2016 - 05/2017 Mentored Student Research Program Student Lab Assistant. Des Moines University (Des Moines, IA) Compared mRNA expression patterns of various genes in the leucine metabolism pathway with and without various inhibitors in both T cells and cancer cells. Developed quantitative PCR assays. Prepared and presented three posters and one oral presentation
