Investigating the presence and role of neuroinflammation in the cerebellum in a rabbit model of cerebral palsy (CP) and the resulting impact on learning behaviors. Through the use of immunohistochemistry staining, evaluating the degree of microglial activation to establish presence of neuroinflammation in the cerebellum of neonatal rabbits with CP. Will further investigate the impact of this on cognitive function using the eyeblink conditioning response in juvenile rabbits with CP. Future goals include investigating ability to target these activated microglial through nanoparticle-based therapy to minimize the degree of inflammation. Manuscript: “Cerebellar injury and inflammation in a rabbit model of cerebral palsy” in process. |
2016 - 2018 Assistant Professor, Medical College of Wisconsin, Harder Lab Group. Investigating outcomes and potential therapeutic interventions in multiple models of brain injury, including metabolic stress, hypoxia, trauma, and vascular injury. |
2017 - 2018 Site-Primary Investigator; PARK-PICU (Prevalence of Acute Rehab for Kids in the PICU) is a multi-institutional point prevalence study to characterize the prevalence and characteristics of mobility as part of routine clinical care for critically ill children internationally. |
