Description
Membrane-associated calcium-binding proteins that are characterized by N-terminal EF HAND MOTIFS and a STERILE ALPHA MOTIF. They function as sensors of ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM calcium levels and translocate from the ER to the plasma membrane to activate CALCIUM CHANNELS in response to intracellular calcium depletion.Browse to child terms:
