Infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia are frequently discharged from the NICU on home oxygen therapy (HOT); however, substantial variation exists in discharge practices and outpatient management. Discharge on HOT requires meeting established criteria, including medical stability, appropriate follow-up arrangements, and comprehensive caregiver education. After discharge, approaches to oxygen weaning, management of adjunctive therapies such as diuretics, illness monitoring, and post-weaning follow-up also vary considerably.
