CLINICAL RESEARCH SCHOLARS PROGRAM:
09/10/2013 - 06/23/2015 This program’s goal is to enable each Clinical Research Scholar to successfully compete for research funding. Each meeting (2 per month) starts with an hour-long seminar on topics related to clinical research (e.g., grant writing), tools available to researchers (e.g., biostatistics support, clinical databases), and career-development (e.g., time management). Each seminar is followed by an hour-long small group session, in which scholars review each other’s grants and manuscripts in a style similar to NIH study sections.

CONCEPT TO CLINIC: COMMERCIALIZING INNOVATION (C3I) PROGRAM - PHASE I:
08/2017 - 12/2017 The C3i Program provides training for early-stage biomedical project teams on how to commercialize their innovations. The program is organized by the National Institute of Biomedical Imagining and Bioengineering (NIBIB) and BIOCOMX, and it is based on the Coulter Commercialization Process. The program is designed to provide medical device innovators with the specialized business frameworks and essential tools for successful translation of biomedical technologies from the lab (concept) to the market (clinic). The curriculum and customized mentoring provided by the C3i Program are intended to guide investigators as they assess the commercial viability and potential business opportunity for their innovation. Phase I consists of a 2-day conference (boot camp), a series of interviews with stakeholders (physicians, patients, industry collaborators, hospital staff), biweekly mentoring sessions with business advisors, and a final presentation on our market analysis. Together with John Rhee M.D., I completed this training to assess the commercial viability of launching a company to offer virtual surgery planning for patients with nasal airway obstruction.
