COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES:
11/2012 - 12/2017 Patient Welfare Association (PWA), Karachi, Pakistan Volunteer, PWA is a student-run non-government organization which provides free of cost health care for the underprivileged patients of Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi. It also runs one of Asia's largest blood banks and has a Thalassemia Center to provide free transfusions. I was part of PWA's charity-drives and blood-drives. I volunteered on a weekly basis to run their free drug bank. My class raised 1,730,000 Pakistani Rupees in the First Years' Bake Sale held in 2013.
12/2013 - 08/2019 First Response Initiative of Pakistan (FRIP), Karachi, Pakistan Instructor and Treasurer, FRIP is a non-government organization that aims to raise awareness and provide training in first response to trauma and medically urgent and emergent situations. In December 2013, I joined FRIP and soon qualified to become an instructor. I volunteered to teach life-saving skills in free-of-cost workshops catering to a variety of populations, ranging from medical students and doctors to school-going children and teachers to health workers in a rural health camp in the town of Sehwan, Pakistan. In April 2015, I became the treasurer for FRIP. I was responsible for maintaining the organization's bank account, managing its finances as well as looking after and upgrading its inventory. I presented a financial summary at the end of each year in FRIP's general body meeting. I was a mentor to 22 junior members. I also helped research and edit FRIP's teaching course.
 

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
04/2022 - 06/2023 Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Akron, OH, Supervisor: Dr. Carrie Caruso I was part of a Quality Improvement study investigating the impact of distribution of 'Get-Well-Soon' Greeting Cards on patient satisfaction scores during their in-patient stay.
04/2022 - 06/2023 Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Akron, OH, Supervisor: Dr. Patrick Gallegos I was part of data collection for a study investigating the prescription patterns of Direct oral anticoagulants in patients with VTEs. Manuscript submitted, awaiting acceptance.
09/2023 - Present Scholars in Quality Improvement and patient safety (SQUIPS), Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI, Supervisor: Dr. Wainaina Njeri SQUIPS provides foundation in patient safety and quality improvement for those interested in incorporating quality as a component of an academic career.
